shipping tube

Any ideas on the cheapest way to ship 10' lengths of tubing from Kentucky to California? Would only be about 6 pcs.

10' has to go freight, I would be shocked if it was worth it, I just shipped a pony pallet from Tampa to Chatanooga, was only 48lbs (lots of aluminum cut outs) and it was $67. What tubing are you looking for that is worth shipping from Cali to Ketucky?

8' long pieces can go UPS, which would likely be a lot cheaper than freight. That's what I end up with when I only need a few feet of something.

Call U-Haul and see if there's anyone's moving to cali .. offer 50-60 bucks for gas, they may take it ... worth a try I think....

Ok, well for freight to the west coast I've had the best luck with R+L Carriers, http://rlcarriers.com/ give them a call, they will be able to tell you what freight class it is and give you a solid quote.

Have you ever tried this? It seems or at least I would hope a moving truck rental company would have some sort of confidentiality about their customers and there whereabouts. It would be a convenient idea though, but it may take a while to find out where's Waldo going.

For the cost it SEEMS like it could be just bought there UNLESS its really special stuff.

But check with GreyHound. They ship all sorts of crazy things in the bottoms of thier busses storage compartments.

You would/should make it easy to carry (like wrap rope around it in two places for handles near the middle) and bundle it up. You would likely wish to wrap the tube in plastic sheeting so it stays drier and does not get any dirt/oil off it onto other peoples things. The plastic sheeting can be bought pretty cheap at U-hual stores and you can get stuff thats near 2 feet wide.

Then the person getting it would just have to go to the local Greyhound terminal to get it.

Ten feet might be pushing it but you may also do it in two bundles so its easier to move. They may not likely consider it two packages like the Post offcie would (with two smaller packages) Especially if you pointed out you made them half size for easier handling.

Talk to them and see what they say.

If you are giving this tube away and the consignee just has to pay the freight.

I can see where you could do this. The cost of freight would make the cost higher then what a walk in would pay at any steel supplier.

What kind of time frame are you looking to move this ??

Do any carriers local to you run trucks to this part of California . You might be able to talk them into a little pocket money to move this

You might look at UPS and Fed-EX freight divisions.

HeHe... Nope never tried it .. It was just a Froggy Brain Fart ... I do understand and respect the confidentiality part, I would just pretty much ask and leave my personal info and paticulars in hopes for a bite ... (a fishing trip persay) ..

last time you shipped it to me it was via ups, whatever their longest lenght is fine with me, i'm going to be using it in shorter then 10' pieces anyways. thanks for looking into it though =)
