We are excited to take part in contributing to the wealth of knowledge already on this forum. We have been a member in the shadows over the years and thanks to the man in charge we now have a forum to share what we know, what we have learned, and reach out to this community to ensure that our program is built in a manner that prepares students for a job in the fabrication industry.

A little about our school:

National Accreditation
Partnerships with: Department of Defense, Veteran Affairs, State Workforce Development, Multiple city Employment Development Departments, and various Native American Indian Tribes.

What this means to you: Each year we have to report to various agencies that we are holding up our end of the bargain. They review several components in order for us to maintain accreditation, as well as funding.

Components:
Graduation rate
Placement rate (how many do we get jobs on graduation)
Validity of our curriculum
School management of resources

We are located smack in the middle of Southern California in the Inland Empire. We benefit from local University Housing for out of area students, centrally located to major manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and some of the best terrain to wheel/race/test. (Hammers 1.5 hours away)

The site is http://www.thefabschool.com/ .

I pretty sure this is the place I contacted in Riverside a couple/few years back looking for short term (weekend or so) instruction. It's a "full meal deal" program. Just like old fashioned trade school. I think this sort of route is better for some kids (and adults) than a four year school. There are some CCs and the Wyotechs and the like, but very few that focus on race fab like this sort of program.

Welcome to OFN.

Will be really nice to see some of your student projects, as they progress along.

"full meal deal" That is the best way I have seen our program described :)
It really is. We take the element of welding ( mig/tig) and show students how to apply these skill as part of the BIGGER PICTURE. We teach them how to take that idea that is in their heads and bring it to life. For some it is auto related: buggies, race trucks, choppers, and the like. For others it is artistic, mechanical, or design.

Who is "TheFabSchool"?
What is your position with the organization?
What are your skills, credentials, expertise, and or background?

Just curious...

My name is James Ward; I am the Business Development Manager at the school.
What I do: My normal role is the development of relationships for the school. I negotiate contracts with organizations for training/ partnerships/and events.

For now I am also covering Facebook, forums, (social media).

My background: I have worked in higher education for the past 4 years in various roles, but mostly in business development. I have a Bachelors of Science in Communications, and I am about 6 months away from a Masters in Management. I spent 4 years prior to that as a 19 –D Cavalry Scout (Army).

I have been a welder/ fabricator since high school. I have built, rolled repeat several jeeps, and buggies. For the last two years I managed the Italian King of The Hammers Race Team. Prior to that I worked with Dustin Webster (Red Bull Rock Crawling/Racing) helping out their KOH team. I have been involved with King of the Hammers since the first official race, either as part of a team or a volunteer. I am just an enthusiast who has been lucky enough to find work in the industry that I love.
