Reminder.

There I was cutting the spring pad off the 14-bolt tube:
I have all of my PPE, installed, correctly.
When the saw spits a metal chip out and it hits me just above the glasses rebounds against the inside of my safety glasses and then immediately into my right eye!

I head for the first aid kit and the reading glasses.
Try flushing the sharp little chip out, NOPE.
Get the Q-Tip and of course I blink which drags the shard around drawing tears.
I do get the chip out before it can do any other damage.
Now I,m typing through tears in one eye.

All the right gear and still... Right in the eye!

Well the sting is gone so back to it.

Lets be careful out there!

Pain is almost gone, so I think I got it.

The two letters behind my Fathers name are OD or Doctor of Optometry.
He's long retired, but I do appreciate the lessons he gave me when stuff like this occurs. It rarely happens with Metal but WOOD
I switched to the Porta~Band from the Sawzall; much fewer chips flying, but I need a blade!

sounds good though

That sucks! Hope you got it all out

Do you use a face shield along with safety glasses? I've been making it a habit to wear both but both they are prone to fogging. I think I'm going to invest in the more expensive coated ones.

That sucks.

I ALWAYS where tight fitting safety glasses. Been to the eye dr. A few times to have stuff removed.

I hate to say it, but you are in for a long night tonight. When you sleep, your eyes twitch.

I spent years and a lot of money to find glasses that have almost no gap. The flip is they fog. I keep a clean magnet tip for getting them quickly. Put your sawsall in the sand blaster box. Done😂

Eye is healing. Had my RN look when she got home and she found nothing.
Almost no irritation this morning so I'll be happy with just a scratch!

Now, if the shop would just get above freezing I could get back to work.

I have been to the Doc a few times to get metal drilled out from those bad bounces. But years back I had a guy working for me who got some metal in his eye, so I took him in to the Doc. The Doc got it right out, but we found out he had metal in his eye from years before. It had capsulated. What I can't imagine is how he got through the time after he got it in there. It hurts like crazy.

Talking

Speaking of old metal in the eye.
I had to do an MRI of my neck and they asked if I "ever" had metal in my eye...
What do you mean by ever, I have worked in machine shops all my life....
That would be a yes, and before we can do the MRI we need to take an x-ray of your head.

The didn't find anything
